After completing his specialist training at the University Clinic for Ophthalmology & Optometry, Medical University of Vienna, and his habilitation in ophthalmology, Dr. Bühl specialized in macular and retinal diseases.

Over 10 years ago, he took over as deputy head and in 2025 as head of the outpatient clinic for diagnostics and treatment of macular diseases at the University Eye Clinic.

The outpatient clinic handles over 10,000 outpatient visits annually and performs over 8,000 intravitreal injections.

A further specialization was in the field of cataract surgery.

As part of his academic work, Dr. Bühl has published over 80 articles in international journals. He has also been responsible for quality management at the University Eye Clinic for over 15 years.
